Open Square - Holyoke Mass

The City of Holyoke is undergoing a transformation not seen since the 19th century. The "Paper City" is shedding its manufacturing roots in favor of a combination of green technology, retail, the arts and living space. The downtown canal area is the center of this transformation. The building at the heart of this revival is called "Open Square".

The Lyman Paper Mills were purchased by William Aubin in 1968-1969. John Aubin moved to Holyoke in 1999 to orchestrate this redevelopment. With its own water-powered turbines, the location is the country's largest net-zero mixed-use development that includes 50+ businesses as well as retail, venue & living space.

"Open Square" heralds the rebirth of a unique American city with a rich history, and a most important future.
